I first noticed an aircraft, at a high altitude, traveling from north to south; it was west of my vantage point. Suddenly, it “curved” in-flight and changed directions and traveled north.
Certainly it is not uncommon to observe residual aftermath of commercial aircraft, depending on atmospheric conditions, leaving vapor trails that remain for quite some time. In this instance, the “trail” was intermitant and after leaving a distinct line gradually started to fade ultimately disappearing. The trail seemingly ceased to emit from the craft and then both no longer visible.
Soon after the first craft had made its turn southbound to north, another craft, at similar or same altitude, maintaining what appeared the same path but slightly lower line, also made the same hard turn from south to north leaving the same “curved” pattern trail.
This occured during the light of day with a clear sky…no clouds anywhere in sight. The oddity is mostly the fact it was two crafts making the same hard turn then all evidence disappearing. There were other commercial jets in the area, most at lower, approach altitudes. But there were also other crafts at similar (seemingly) altitudes but ALL traveling in straight lines with the trails being emitted remaining in the air for longer periods of time with none “disappearing” aside from traveling to points beyond line-of-sight.
At the risk of speculation, the only logic making sense, based on firsthand knowlege, is the possibility of military aircraft. In contrast, the characteristics of what was observed, paired with proximity of known military instilations, diminishes and/or compromises credibility to this idea.
