ball of multicolored lights over Anaheim, Ca

I saw my FIRST unnatural phenomenon last night: a ball of multicolored changing lights in the sky. I was with my girlfriend saying goodnight to her on her front porch in the city of Anaheim at 11:00 PM Thurs eve Nov 8th (not over Disneyland). Looking South from vicinity of Ball/Euclid streets. We looked up to notice a ball of light glowing blue, changing to red, white, yellow, orange, purple and lavendar. Maybe about 5 or six miles away. Maybe 800 to 1000 feet up. Lasted about 2 minutes. At first I thought lightening or electricity in the air, a heliocopter or Disneyland lights. Maybe it was some high tech light show, but….. after the light stopped flashing we continued to stare were I saw the lights. It went dark but we could faintly see about a hundred or so slightly iridescent tiny lights arranged in a sphere. Looked like a ball of dim fireflies arranged in a ball quite a bit larger than the size of a hot air balloon (hard to say how far they were or how large). After staring at this ball/sphere barely visible because it was not making any more flashing lights, I scanned the sky around it and we noticed at least 10 other of these “balls” in the sky arranged in a line above where we saw the ball making all of the light colors. All was dim, no bright lights, just the faint presence of these ‘balls of fireflies’, we were just looking and waiting for something else to happen. About 4 minutes later the ball rose straight up in the sky above all of the other balls, but stayed dark. Then another ball way over to the right of these things started to flash blue, purple, yellow, white, blue and other blues then stopped after about 30 seconds. None of these objects made any sound, was silent. I didn’t stick around to watch anymore after a total of 15 minutes or so but it gave us an eerie feeling, like ‘wow this is something paranormal’. They were still present when I left and I was actually kind of scared to drive off by myself! Like they could see me somehow but they did not feel dangerous. Very interesting, what do you think? BTW, this was very plain in the sky to anyone paying attention, I don’t know if anyone else observed this. There were some neighbors walking around across the street, I almost wanted to yell “look up in the sky. What is that?” but didn’t want to wake people up. We did not have our cell phones or cameras handy to take any video, it was happening right in front of us and we didn’t want to miss it by looking around for the camera!

About anomaly

SMiles Lewis has had a lifelong interest in all things anomalous. An early age proclivity at recalling his nightly dreams as well as several personal experiences with ESP, precognition and dream switching bolstered his interest in the paranormal. Shortly after high-school he joined the local MUFON chapter in Austin, Texas. He would later become a MUFON State Section Director for that group as well as leader of the local UFO Experiencer Support and Study Group. A lover of books, SMiles collected over 1000 titles before founding the non-profit Anomaly Archives that serves as the lending library of the Scientific Anomaly Institute (501c3). For over twenty years he has worked with digital audio, video and other bleeding edge internet technologies. He has published his own print journal (E.L.F. Infested Spaces), edited a local paranormal newspaper (Austin Para Times), maintained a large network of websites (, organized a national UFO conference (NUFOC-38), spoken to anthropologists about UFOs and parapsychology (Encounters with the Fantastic), hosted (and been a guest on) both terrestrial and webradio talk shows and has been podcasting since before the phrase existed. All these efforts and more have led radio talk show host Robert Larson to describe Miles as a “Gonzo Alt-Media Proprietor and Informationalist.” He is also the LOWFI-Texas State Bureau Chief of The League of Western Fortean Intermediatists. SMiles’ current projects include co-hosting PsiOp-Radio with Mack White as part of the many unique shows airing daily on his ANOMALY RADIO Network. He is active with several local non-profits which includes his service on the board of directors for the Institute for Neuroscience And Consciousness Studies (INACS) and the Scientific Anomaly Institute‘s lending library, the Anomaly Archives. His writings can be found within the Archives of his print journal ELFIS and ANOMALY Magazine. In his day job with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission‘s Talking Book Program he manages a Volunteer Recording Studio and audio duplication department and has been a consultant on two digital audio development documents for the Library of Congress‘ National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
